The Arc of the Capital, a nonprofit organization in Round Rock, Central Texas, is seeking dedicated volunteers to make a difference in the lives of those living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). With over 100 different diagnoses falling under I/DD, including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and Autism, this organization has been an unyielding support system since its establishment in 1949.
For over seven decades, the organization has been committed to providing compassionate case management and innovative programs, empowering over 1,000 individuals across 17 counties each year. Their dedication to service and commitment to inclusion make it one of the oldest and most respected non-profits in Austin.
The Arc of the Capital needs volunteers to assist in several areas, ranging from their Art & Education Program to Fundraising Events and Leadership Committees. Some of these positions include Art & Education Program Assistant, Educational Workshop facilitators for the Art & Education Program, and more. Whether you are interested in participating in a single event or seeking more long-term opportunities, your help can significantly contribute to the lives of individuals with I/DD and their families.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age, and for those interested, there is an application process that can be followed here.
Alongside their volunteer program, the organization also offers unpaid internships throughout the year – Spring (January-May), Summer (May-August), and Fall (August-December) – for anyone looking to build their resume and gain valuable experience working in the nonprofit sector and social services.
Volunteering at the Arc of the Capital is a wonderful opportunity to positively affect the lives of those living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as a chance to learn and grow. Whether you choose to volunteer or intern, your dedication can make a significant difference.
The Arc of the Capital is located at 1106 Clayton Lane #215E, Austin, Texas 78723.
