Exciting New Indonesian Restaurant Sate Opens in Round Rock, Showcasing Authentic Flavors and Grilled Delights!

Exciting New Indonesian Eateries in Round Rock!

Round Rock, you’re in for a treat! The vibrant flavors of Indonesia have finally made their way to your neighborhood with the grand opening of Sate. This delightful new restaurant officially opened its doors on November 2 at 150 Sundance Parkway, Suite 400. After years as a beloved food truck, Sate has now transformed into a cozy counter-service dining spot that’s brimming with Indonesian barbecue goodness.

Discover the Wonders of Indonesian Cuisine

Sate is not just your average eatery; it focuses on showcasing the best of Indonesian cuisine with a special emphasis on grilled dishes. If you’re wondering what to expect, think satays, which means skewers in Indonesian. They have mouthwatering options including ayam (grilled marinated chicken), babi (grilled marinated pork), beef, and even a tasty vegan option with tempeh!

But that’s not all—Sate brings more variety to your table! Some standout dishes include ayam bakar, which is charcoal-grilled chicken served with pickled veggies and rice, and gado-gado, a fresh salad piled high with steamed veggies and drizzled in rich peanut sauce. And let’s not forget about the accompanying rice options, whether you prefer the fragrant jasmine rice or the deliciously aromatic yellow rice made with turmeric and coconut milk.

Cooking It Right!

What sets Sate apart is the careful attention to grilling. Unlike the direct-flame grill used in the food truck days, Sate now uses bintochan charcoal on a yakitori grill. It’s a technique that allows for a deep, smoky flavor that’ll have your taste buds dancing! Co-owners Tina Villarreal and Eugene Villarreal made sure to recreate the authentic flavors they cherished from Indonesia.

From Food Truck to Restaurant Fame

Founded in 2019, the Villarreal couple aimed to bring a taste of Indonesia to Austin and beyond. Initially starting as a pop-up and then moving to a food truck in mid-2021, they’ve now achieved their dream of opening a brick-and-mortar location. Tina, who hails from Indonesia, teamed up with Eugene, an Austin native, to create a culinary destination that lets people experience their culture through food. They email to share their vision: “We wanted to create a cultural destination for our friends and fans to introduce Indonesian cuisine to our community, which has a low representation.”

Looking Ahead

Excitingly, the Villarreal duo isn’t stopping here. They plan to expand the menu further with even more grilled delectables, including seafood and fish. And don’t miss out on their weekend specials—these are set to be announced regularly on Sate’s Instagram and Facebook pages, so make sure to follow along!

Where to Find Sate

Want to visit? Sate is open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday. You can dine in the cozy space, or opt for takeout and delivery by placing your orders online. It’s the perfect place for a satisfying lunch or a delightful dinner with friends and family!

In Conclusion

If you’re in Round Rock and craving flavorful grilled dishes, Sate is the place to be! With its warm atmosphere and welcoming spirit, it’s a fantastic stop to explore the rich culinary trends from Indonesia. So why wait? Head on over and indulge in some seriously delicious eats!
