The Georgetown Palace Theatre is gearing up to bring August Wilson’s acclaimed play “Fences” to life, and they want YOU to audition!
What’s “Fences” All About?
So, what’s the fuss about? “Fences” tells the story of Troy Maxson, a former star of the Negro baseball leagues who is now working as a sanitation worker in Pittsburgh. Set in the 1950s, the play beautifully tackles themes of racial and economic barriers, unfulfilled dreams, and the complex relationships within a family, particularly Troy’s turbulent relationship with his son, Cory. Cory is all set on following his dreams of playing football, but his father’s past disappointments create a hefty fence that he must navigate.
