Hey there, Georgetown! If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping onto the stage or just love the magic of storytelling, you’re in for a treat. The exceptional Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Department is thrilled to announce auditions for the enchanting production of Charlotte’s Web, based on the classic tale by E.B. White and adapted by Joseph Robinette. This warm and whimsical play is all about friendship, loyalty, and the charming bond between a pig and a spider. How cool is that?
You can catch this delightful show when it opens on October 22, 2024, and runs until November 9, 2024. The production will feature daytime performances, especially geared towards young audiences, with showtimes set for 10:00 AM and NOON from Tuesday through Friday. Plus, two Saturday matinees on October 26 and November 2 at 11:00 AM will be available for the public. And who knows, if ticket sales go well, there might just be another show added on November 9.
The theatre is seeking performers aged 18 and up, no matter your background, ethnicity, or gender identity. They genuinely welcome everyone, and that includes those who identify as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, or nonbinary. This is a space where all types of talented individuals can shine—so don’t hesitate to audition for any of the roles available!
In this heartwarming tale, you’ll meet the lovable Wilbur, the pig who’s desperate to avoid the butcher’s knife, and his loyal friend Charlotte, the brilliant spider who is determined to save him. There’s also Fern, the compassionate girl who hears animal voices, along with Templeton, the sneaky rat who’s always looking for food but can sometimes be convinced to lend a hand.
The cast includes a variety of animals and humans, making it a rich tapestry of characters for actors to portray. Roles like Fern Arable, John Arable, and Avery Arable are just a few of the exciting opportunities to take on.
Excited to try out? Video-recorded auditions are being accepted until 8:00 PM on September 17. When you submit your audition, make sure to perform a 1-2 minute monologue—don’t stress too much about where the monologue comes from. They want to see your personality shine through, so feel free to be playful and expressive!
Callbacks will take place in person on September 19. Even if you can’t attend the callbacks, submit your audition video anyway. They’re very open to making accommodations, so it’s worth a shot!
Rehearsals are set to kick off around October 7, and will mainly occur Monday through Friday during the day. The goal is to ensure that everyone involved feels prepared and excited for the performances. Remember, conflicts during rehearsal can affect casting, so it’s best to be available as much as possible.
The Georgetown Palace Theatre prioritizes the health and safety of everyone involved in the production. If you’re feeling unwell or suspect you’ve got something contagious, they kindly ask that you stay home until you’re better. It’s all about keeping the community safe!
If you’re passionate about the arts and want to help bring this beloved tale to life, seize this opportunity! Whether you’re an experienced actor or a first-timer, the Georgetown Palace Theatre welcomes all who want to embark on this creative journey. For any further questions, feel free to reach out.
