Austin FC, one of Austin’s most popular soccer teams, is evolving its community outreach with a potent drive—encouraging blood donations with a blood drive scheduled for July 9 at Q2 Stadium. Aligning with a clever planning, the team has partnered with the regional non-profit blood provider, We Are Blood (WrB). The partnership is aimed at fostering a culture of regular blood donations while spreading awareness regarding the critical need for blood donations within Central Texas.
The blood drive, set to begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m., is the first among two upcoming blood drives born out of the recent partnership. Donors at the drive can expect a warm welcome, with Austin FC-WrB T-shirts as a token of gratitude. To spur enthusiasm, donors will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a signed team jersey, as mentioned in a press release.
Alongside the incentives, WrB promises a comprehensive mini-physical checkup for every donor, contributing towards their health awareness efforts. The checkup includes blood-pressure and pulse-reading, apart from full-scale iron testing, ensuring a health-check perk complementing their spirit of giving.
Austin FC president, Andy Loughnane, expressed his enthusiastic anticipation for the partnership and upcoming drives, stating, “We look forward to building on our preexisting relationship with We Are Blood to host two blood drives at Q2 Stadium.” The commitment from the club and its president reaffirms its mission to foster a strong community spirit, leveraging its platform for crucial health initiatives.
With the prospect of ample parking at the stadium and walk-ins being accepted, donating blood has been made incredibly convenient for interested patrons. Those planning to book an appointment ahead, keen to understand the frequency of blood and plasma donations, or curious about specific blood type donations should refer to WrB’s official website for comprehensive details.
Austin FC’s blood drive in collaboration with WrB aims at serving the larger community cause beyond the field. The drive scheduled at the Q2 Stadium is a step in the right direction for a city that values both sports and communal welfare.
