With the involvement of the school staff and community members, this collaboration highlights the importance of teamwork and dedication to uplifting the local community. As the students gear up for success, the donation reflects a commitment to providing opportunities for all.
The vibrant city of Austin has become a beacon of community spirit as Fleet Feet Austin and Adidas recently joined forces to donate 86 pairs of footwear to student athletes at Northeast Early College High School. This heartwarming initiative aims to support the active lifestyle of its students, especially in sports like cross country and soccer.
The generous donation included a wonderful mix of running shoes and both indoor and outdoor soccer cleats. The beneficiaries? The hardworking Boys and Girls Cross Country and Soccer teams, who are just ecstatic to get their hands—or should we say feet—on these fresh kicks! With the right gear, these young athletes are bound to chase their dreams both on and off the field.
Helping make this all happen was Elias Barahona, the Assistant Principal Intern and teacher at International High School. He played a key role in ensuring that the shoes would be allocated appropriately to the deserving teams and staff at Northeast Early College High School. But the support didn’t stop with the athletes; custodial and security staff also received footwear, demonstrating a compassion that goes beyond the field.
The donation process wouldn’t have come together without the keen coordination from Evan Landez, a Brand Specialist at Adidas. His collaboration with Barahona was essential in making sure that the footwear made its way to the students who need it most. It’s a great example of how teamwork can elevate a community.
Northeast Early College High School is lucky to feature one of the many state-of-the-art mini-pitches provided by the 4ATX Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Austin FC. These mini-pitches aim to promote activity and wellness in the area by providing \b safe venues for families and peers to gather and play. In total, the 4ATX Foundation has constructed seven of these awesome mini-pitches across Austin and Central Texas. Think of it as a mini football paradise!
It’s essential to highlight the demographics of the Northeast Early College High School; a staggering 91.7% of the student body is identified as economically disadvantaged according to the 2023-24 statistics from the Austin International School District. This statistic emphasizes the importance of initiatives like this one, as they help to level the playing field and provide opportunities for all.
It’s also noteworthy to mention that Elias Barahona has been recognized as the 2024 Legend Of The Year by the 4ATX Foundation. His passion for serving the community is an inspiration and underscores the profound impact that committed individuals can have in the lives of students.
Barahona expressed an optimism for continuing the partnership between the school and organizations like Fleet Feet Austin and Adidas. The mutual goal is clear: to create lasting positive impacts on the students and the surrounding community. There’s a sense of hope in the air, and everyone is excited about what the future holds.
Fleet Feet Austin has openly expressed their appreciation to Adidas, Evan Landez, and Elias Barahona for their invaluable support in this heartwarming initiative. It’s always uplifting to see community efforts come together to uplift those in need. As more projects like this emerge, we can only imagine how many smiling faces and successful athletes will soon grace the fields of Austin.
