Austin is buzzing with delicious news! The beloved Olamaie restaurant is expanding its biscuit empire with a second cafe, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Get ready to welcome Little Ola’s Biscuits to the Mueller neighborhood, set to open its doors in early 2025. This new location will be snuggled away at 1905 Aldrich Street, Suite 110, taking over the recently vacated spot that used to house Halcyon.
Those of you who have tried the biscuits at Little Ola’s will know just how mouthwatering they are! The Mueller cafe will keep the flavors you love while introducing some exciting new dishes. Expect to find mouthwatering buttermilk biscuit sandwiches served both sweet and savory. Your taste buds are bound to rejoice at classic offerings like honey-butter fried chicken and a delightful tomato-egg-cheese combination. And if you have a sweet tooth, look no further than the peanut butter-raspberry jam and peach jam-butter varieties! Can you just imagine biting into one of those warm, buttery creations?
Little Ola’s won’t just be about sandwiches, either. If you’re a fan of the flaky goodness of biscuits on their own, they’ll have a variety of a la carte options available. And those who can’t resist the charm of cinnamon rolls will be delighted by their unique take using biscuit dough!
One of the best parts? Little Ola’s will also feature a drinks menu that’s just as exciting as the food! You can expect refreshing house-made lemonades and Arnold Palmers, along with rich, aromatic espressos and a selection of teas. If you enjoy a spirited brunch, you’ll be happy to hear that the Mueller location has a liquor license. That means you can look forward to some fabulous boozy brunch drinks and full bar access!
Curiouser and curiouser? Here’s a little fun fact about Little Ola’s! It started off as a creative solution during the pandemic, back in July 2020, when Olamaie had to put a temporary pause on dine-in services. Fast forward a year, and it blossomed into a full-fledged cafe in Wells Branch. The little shop didn’t just settle for survival; it thrived and was awarded the Eater Award for best pandemic pivot in 2022! It’s amazing to see how something born from necessity turned into a cherished eating spot.
The talented team at Little Ola’s is led by Jules Stoddart, a managing partner and pastry chef who’s dedicated to delivering a delightful experience. Little Ola’s is part of the MaieB Hospitality group, helmed by executive chef Michael Fojtasek. This dynamic group includes delicious dining options like the downtown Southern restaurant Olamaie, the casual Redbud Ice House, the popular food truck Gimme Burger, and the South Congress Hotel’s Maie Day!
If you thought that was exciting, there’s even more biscuit glory coming to Austin! The well-loved downtown Southern restaurant Fixe is set to open another cafe called Hissy Fit in the Arboretum, coming this fall. This new spot will also showcase its famed biscuits, ensuring that biscuit lovers have many reasons to celebrate in the city!
With all this deliciousness just around the corner, we can hardly wait for Little Ola’s to open in 2025. More biscuits, more flavors, and more joy await the wonderful city of Austin!
