Taylor, Texas is buzzing with excitement as Williamson County has officially broken ground on a $10.7 million event pavilion at the Williamson County Expo Center! With the county being the 10th fastest-growing county in the nation, this new facility is set to become a game changer for all the wonderful events that the community holds every year.
It’s no secret that Williamson County has seen some incredible growth recently. With nearly 25,000 new residents now calling WilCo home, the population is expected to more than double in the next 22 years. That’s huge! This explosion of growth has brought about a need for more space and better facilities to accommodate all the annual events that the community loves.
Everyone knows how difficult it can be to host events with limited space. Just ask WilCo Parks Director, Russell Fishbeck, who mentioned that their team has had to turn people away due to lack of capacity. “We turned a lot of folks away because we don’t have the extra space or the capacity to host the type of event they want here, so this new facility will give us the opportunity to grow,” he stated.
The new pavilion is going to be nothing short of amazing! The 170×450 ft arena will include features that everyone will appreciate. Picture two 28×28 ft covered picnic tables, restrooms, showers, and expanded parking. No more running into a tight squeeze when you’re trying to find a place to park for your favorite county event!
Williamson County Commissioner, Russ Boles, is genuinely enthusiastic about the project, emphasizing how it will enhance the overall quality of events for residents. “It’s just something that we can keep building on, and we’re able to hold better events, and bigger events, and serve the public even more so it’s really exciting,” he declared. “I see this as investing into ourselves, our future, and our history.”
In the wake of Samsung settling in Taylor just two years ago, Fishbeck sees this new pavilion as an absolute necessity. “It’s a magnificent facility and we’re excited for this day, and what it’s going to do for Williamson County and the east side,” he shared with palpable enthusiasm.
This new facility will be a home for not just a few events, but for all 82 annual county events. Imagine everything from fairs, festivals, and community gatherings all taking place in one convenient location. This is what community is all about—coming together, celebrating milestones and making lasting memories.
Don’t worry; you won’t have to wait long to experience all that this new arena is set to offer! The county is aiming to wrap up construction and hold a fabulous ribbon-cutting ceremony in just 12 months. So mark your calendars because the future looks bright for Williamson County!
With such a beautiful facility on the way, it’s a thrilling time to be part of the Taylor and surrounding community. As everyone gears up for the transformation that is about to unfold, there’s no doubt that the newly expanded Expo Center will be the heart of countless celebrations yet to come!
