Georgetown Residents: Enjoy Free Christmas Tree Recycling
As the holiday season comes to a close, residents in Georgetown and the surrounding areas can once again take part in a convenient and eco-friendly tradition offered by Texas Disposal Systems (TDS). From December 26 through January 31, TDS will be providing a fantastic opportunity for the community to recycle their Christmas trees and other organic holiday decorations at no cost!
Recycle Your Tree and Decorations
If you have an unflocked Christmas tree or any organic decorations such as holly, pumpkins, or other living decor, you’re in luck! These items can be dropped off at the TDS & Garden-Ville Georgetown, conveniently located at 250 W.L. Walden Dr. But that’s not the only place! There are five additional drop-off locations scattered throughout Central Texas, making it easy and accessible for everyone.
What Happens to Your Tree?
The collected trees and decorations will be taken to TDS’ facility, where they will be transformed into high-quality organic mulch and compost. This process not only helps reduce waste but also creates useful products that local gardeners can use to enhance their green spaces. The finished mulch and compost are available for purchase at various Garden-Ville stores throughout Central Texas, which specialize in sustainable gardening products.

If you’re using curbside pick-up, make sure your tree is uncut (if it’s seven feet or shorter) and is free from all decorations. The pick-up for trees aligns with your recycling schedule, ensuring a smooth collection process.
Other Recycling Tips
When it comes to wrapping paper, residents can recycle cardboard boxes and plain wrapping paper, but remember that decorated wrapping paper, foil, ribbons, and bows don’t belong in the recycling bin.
