Hey Georgetown friends! Get ready to embrace the vibrant spirit of Dia De Los Muertos this coming Friday, November 1st. The South Main Arts District is inviting everyone to join a delightful lunchtime celebration filled with rich traditions, mouthwatering food, and colorful performances that will make your heart sing.

Event Details

Join us from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 158 E. Ninth St. as we pay tribute to loved ones who’ve passed on and enjoy all the festivities that come along with this cherished holiday. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gather with family and friends while soaking in the cultural significance of this day!

Food, Fun, and Festivities

Prepare your taste buds for a sensational treat! Pan Tostado Café is bringing a taste of Mexico right to our doorstep. You won’t want to miss their cafe de la olla, an aromatic brew made from ground coffee sourced straight from Chiapas, Mexico, accompanied by cinnamon and piloncillo—what a delightful way to warm your spirits!

Also on the menu are delicious pan dulce (sweet breads), conchas, marranitos, empanadas, and churros—goodness gracious, how can anyone resist that? Trust us; a sweet treat goes hand in hand with celebrating life and spirit!

A Celebration of Culture

As if the food isn’t enough to excite you, there will also be some engaging activities throughout the event. You can get your face painted with intricate sugar skull designs by a talented face painter. Want some hands-on fun? Join in on the tissue paper flower crafting to create beautiful decorations that symbolize the fragility of life.

And what’s a celebration without some show-stopping performances? Georgetown ISD students are stepping up, showcasing a mesmerizing live dance performance that celebrates the essence of Dia De Los Muertos. You can feel the energy and passion as they take the stage, bringing to life the traditions of this beautiful holiday.

Learn About the Tradition

Fuego Latino will also be at the event, sharing delicious food samples and telling the story behind the ofrenda and the significance of the Dia De Los Muertos celebration. It’s such a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of this colorful tradition, which is all about honoring the memories of those we hold dear. The warmth of storytelling alongside the delicious bites makes for an incredible experience.

This fabulous event is brought to you by several amazing sponsors, including the Downtown Georgetown Association, Central Texas Art Focus, GTX Connect, and Change, Hope & Wellness. They really believe in the importance of bringing people together to celebrate togetherness and community.
