Georgetown Neighborhoods Street Resurfacing in Progress: A Community Impact Initiative

Georgetown – Residents of several Georgetown neighborhoods will soon navigate smoother roads as the city has commenced its planned street resurfacing project.
The $7.06 million Project
Earlier this summer, the city of Georgetown launched a $7.06 million project to mill and repave certain neighborhood roads. This process, known as hot-in-place recycling, encompasses the heating, removal, grinding, and mixing of existing pavement with new materials to form a new asphalt surface.
Evaluation and Selection
Every three years, the city of Georgetown conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the pavement conditions on all city streets. Those roads deemed most in need of repairs are then placed on the list for replacement or resurfacing. As of now, the communities of Reata Trails and River Bend are currently undergoing hot-in-place recycling operations.
Neighborhoods to Undergo Street Resurfacing
By the end of the year, the project will have reached the following neighborhoods:
- Golden Oaks
- Quail Meadow
- Country Club
- Rivery Park
- River Oaks
- Old Town
- Anderson Addition
- Wood Ranch
- University Park
The $1.54 Million Endeavor
In late July, the city will initiate another project worth $1.54 million to apply a high-performance surface sealant on street surfaces. This routine maintenance is performed annually during the summer and fall in order to mitigate damage caused by traffic, water, and UV radiation.
Neighborhoods to Receive High-Performance Sealant
The following neighborhoods are scheduled to receive the high-performance sealant treatment this fall:
- Carlson Place
- Saddle Creek
- Fairhaven
- Arrowpoint
What Should Residents Anticipate?
Residents in affected neighborhoods are advised to keep an eye out for door hanger flyers and social media posts confirming when work on their streets will begin. The city of Georgetown will also post and regularly update a schedule for the projects on its website.
During hot-in-place recycling work, traffic delays may occur. It is recommended that drivers consider alternate routes to avoid prolonged wait times. When high-performance sealant application begins, streets will be closed for 24 hours beginning at 8 a.m. and reopening the following day at the same time.
