As they embark on their next chapters at prestigious institutions, the future looks bright for these graduates.
New Bedford is buzzing with excitement as students from the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School are gearing up to embark on new educational adventures. These talented individuals have not only excelled in their respective fields, but they’re also bringing home a treasure trove of skills that they have gathered during their time at GNB Voc-Tech. Faiza Rahaman, a New Bedford native, has been a shining star in the Programming and Web Development shop. Her hard work and dedication paved the way for her future as she prepares to attend UMASS Dartmouth with a major in Computer Science. Outside the classroom, Faiza took advantage of various opportunities, being involved in Business Professionals of America and the National Honor Society. She loved making new friends and emphasized the importance of strong relationships with her supportive teachers and guidance counselors.
Another star on the rise is Kylie Lourenco, who shone brightly in the Engineering and Robotics shop. With her sights set on the Florida Institute of Technology, Kylie plans to double major in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. Showcasing her competitive spirit, she participated in SkillsUSA and earned impressive medals at the state level. Kylie appreciates her shop experiences, saying they significantly advanced her knowledge and opened a world of opportunities.
Joining the ranks of engineering enthusiasts is Austin Honda, who also excelled in the Engineering and Robotics shop. Committed to attending the Florida Institute of Technology, he too plans to focus on both mechanical and electrical engineering. Austin’s achievements also include several medals in SkillsUSA competitions and being an active member of the National Honor Society. Reflecting on his high school experience, he cherished the friendships he cultivated over the years.
One dynamic graduate is Samantha Simon, who excelled in the Legal and Protective Services shop. She plans to pursue Business Administration at Merrimack College while staying active in sports through volleyball and cheerleading. As chapter Secretary for the Business Professionals of America, Samantha values the opportunities she had to travel, gaining priceless experiences and a sense of independence throughout her high school journey.
Adam Gadd from Dartmouth has made waves in the Architectural Design shop. He is gearing up for his next journey to UMass Dartmouth to study civil engineering. Adam chose football and both spring and winter track as his extracurricular activities, appreciating the hands-on experiences in architectural design that prepared him for the real-world challenges ahead.
Dania Alvarado, another graduate from the Legal and Protective Services shop, plans to attend Northeastern University in Boston, where she’s exploring options in criminal justice and business administration. She played varsity basketball and soccer, and her accolades include being a National Finalist in Legal Office Procedures through the Business Professionals of America. Dania holds dear the relationships she built with teachers and fellow students, along with the unforgettable memories of her high school days.
Gabriela Venturini has emerged as a leader in the Medical Assisting shop and will soon attend MCPHS for Pre-Medicine. Her robust involvement with cross country and teaching through the New Bedford Pathfinder Navigators speaks volumes about her commitment to community. Gabriela treasures the friendships and experiences from her shop, as well as her Co-op position at Hawthorn Medical Associates.
Macey Perez is headed to the Wentworth Institute of Technology to major in Architecture. Though participation in extracurriculars wasn’t her focus, she emphasizes the value of lifelong friendships and the encouragement from her teachers during her high school years.
Diana Sousa, another legal studies enthusiast, is set to follow her passion for Criminal Justice at Bridgewater State University while hoping to further her soccer career. As both captain of the varsity team and an active player in basketball, she cherishes the strong bonds she formed with peers and the lessons learned both on and off the field.
Alexis Ngo from Dartmouth has excelled in the Medical Assisting shop and is now heading to the Signature Health Brockton Hospital School of Nursing to pursue her dream of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. Balancing her passion for dance with her academic commitments, she also took great pride in her Co-op work within the Cardiology department at Hawthorn Medical Associates.
