Little Kitchen Academy’s Sole Austin Location Closes Down

Little Kitchen Academy’s Sole Austin Location Closes Down

By HERE News | July 10, 2024

AUSTIN—Little Kitchen Academy (LKA), a Montessori-inspired cooking academy, has closed its only Texas location located in Arbor Walk on July 7. After operating for nearly seven months and offering culinary education to children aged between 3 and 18 years old, the cooking school has ceased operations, with no immediate plans for reopening.

The Closure of LKA Austin

The now-closed cooking academy enrolled children and teenagers into a variety of classes starting from $80. The Arbor Walk location, situated at 10515 N. MoPac Expressway, Ste. 135-A, was the first and only Little Kitchen Academy establishment in Texas. The academy had made a name for itself within the community by helping children develop hands-on experience and life skills, all from the comfort of a well-fitted and child-friendly kitchen.

The abrupt closure of the Austin location leaves many parents and children who had scheduled or prepaid for future programs in a lurch. The company’s website hosted at www.littlekitchenacademy.com confirmed the closure but did not provide any reasons behind the decision.

Reimbursement to Customers

In the wake of the closure announcement, Little Kitchen Academy initiated refunds to all affected customers. These include parents and guardians who had bought gift cards or prepaid for future classes. Despite the disappointment stemming from the closure, the cooking academy is committed to ensuring that no customer loses money and is working to reimburse all due amounts.

While families are relieved at the promise of a refund, the sudden closure has left many of them disappointed as the academy had quickly woven itself into the fabric of the Austin community. Parents and guardians across the city had come to regard LKA as a supportive and nurturing environment for their children to learn not just culinary skills, but also about responsibility, independence and confidence.

Impact on the Community

The dissolution of the Little Kitchen Academy is a significant blow to the Austin community. The academy’s ground-breaking approach to culinary education for youngsters had filled a large void within the city’s educational landscape, attracting students from across Austin and beyond. The closure poses a significant setback to parents intending to inspire a love for cooking within their children while also keeping them engaged and learning new skills during the summer break.

The Austin location closure marks a discontinuation of LKA’s presence within Texas, having first opened its doors in December 2023. As of now, there isn’t any official statement about future plans or the possibility of reopening at a different location.

An Uncertain Future

The future of Little Kitchen Academy in Austin or elsewhere in Texas remains uncertain. As the community comes to terms with the sudden closure, scores of parents and children are left simply hoping that this unique cooking academy will once again open its doors, and continue to foster love and skills for cooking and baking in the hearts and minds of their children.

For future updates, visit the official Little Kitchen Academy website or the establishment’s official social media pages.
