As the city sees an influx of about 4,000 new residents monthly, the medical center aims to cater to the growing community’s healthcare demands by increasing hospital capacity, adding a neonatal intensive care unit, and improving overall patient services, with completion expected by early 2026. This expansion signals a significant step in enhancing health services not just at Baylor Scott & White, but across other local hospitals as well.
Round Rock, Texas, is buzzing with excitement as the **Baylor Scott & White Medical Center** gears up for a massive **$220 million expansion** to meet the needs of its growing community. It’s a big deal! With approximately **4,000 new residents** setting up shop in Williamson County every month, this expansion couldn’t come at a better time.
Local officials gathered for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the start of this ambitious project. They’ll be rolling out the expansion in phases, aiming to have everything ready by the beginning of **2026**. That’s only a couple of years away! The Round Rock Mayor pointed out that this growth isn’t just about new buildings—it’s about improving safety and the overall health of the community.
The medical center has already seen a **30% increase** in hospital service volume in just five years. That’s a clear indication that folks in the area need more healthcare services. Not only that, but there has also been a **40% surge** in newborn deliveries in the same time frame. Clearly, families are flocking to Round Rock, and the hospital is committed to making sure the needed services are available.

This exciting growth isn’t limited to Baylor Scott & White. Other hospitals in Williamson County are in on the action too! For instance, Ascension Seton Williamson Medical Center is working on a **216,000-square-foot second tower** that will add **160 additional beds**. That facility is also expected to wrap up construction by spring **2026**. Talk about making room for more care!
Each year, Ascension Seton sees over **50,000 patients** walk through their doors, and their emergency room handles about **50,000 visits** from individuals across **14 counties**. Clearly, there’s a robust demand for healthcare services.
Not to be outdone, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has its own plans in the works, aiming to add **two floors** that will create **34 new beds** and two more operating rooms.
