Georgetown's 2nd Annual Santa Crawl Raises $48,000 for Local Children in Need

Georgetown Gathers for Holiday Cheer at The Locker’s 2nd Annual Santa Crawl

This past weekend, the charming city of Georgetown transformed into a winter wonderland as the community came together for the 2nd Annual Santa Crawl, hosted by The Locker. The event truly encapsulated the spirit of the season, blending joy, festivity, and a whole lot of goodwill! With hundreds of Santas parading through the streets, it was a sight to behold as they raised an astounding $48,000 to help children in need throughout Georgetown and surrounding areas.

What is The Locker?

For those who might not be in the loop, The Locker is a non-profit organization that has been making waves since its inception in 2008. They have a unique mission to support children and teens in Georgetown by creating accessible lockers in schools. These aren’t just any lockers; they are stocked with essential items tailored to meet the specific needs of each child. It’s heartwarming to see how this organization focuses on meaningful, personalized giving that truly impacts the kids they serve.

A Unique Approach to Support

But wait, there’s more! The Locker also collaborates with school nurses to offer something called “Aunt Flo’s Carts.” These carts, filled with feminine hygiene products, are set up in nurse’s offices across Georgetown ISD schools. It’s just one more way The Locker demonstrates their commitment to addressing practical needs of local youth, making sure everyone has access to what they need.

Fun for the Whole Family

This year, the Santa Crawl added some extra enchantment with family-friendly activities in the town square. Inspired by the response from families at last year’s event, The Locker teamed up with students from several local high schools, including Jarrell, Hendrickson, Georgetown High School, and Eastview High School, to bring joy to kids of all ages. Families enjoyed a variety of activities like face painting, taking pictures with the jolly man himself, and even “Who Hair” styling! It was a delightful way to soak in the festive holiday atmosphere.

The Main Event

Of course, the highlight of the evening was the impressive turnout of over 350 Santas crawling through downtown. With complimentary holiday beverages and discounts from local businesses at their disposal, participants were in the festive spirit, to say the least! To up the ante, The Locker even recognized standout contributions with several fun awards, including:

  • The Golden Rule – Best Beverage
  • Hydrate on the Square – Best Holiday Spirit
  • Black Sugar – Best Holiday Decorations

Building Community Connections

Thanks to the overwhelming support from the community—students, volunteers, and local businesses—the Santa Crawl has blossomed into a treasured holiday tradition that beautifully meshes fun and philanthropy. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable, creating a heartwarming atmosphere that embodies the real essence of the holidays.

How to Get Involved

Are you feeling inspired? The Locker is constantly looking for volunteers who are eager to support their incredible mission. Whether you’re interested in lending a hand during events or contributing in other ways, there’s a place for you to make a difference.
