Travis County CASA Teams Up with Kerbey Lane to Increase Awareness

Austin, TX: Travis County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) has embarked on a novel partnership with Kerbey Lane All Day Cafe to enhance awareness and uplift fund generation for the organization. This collaboration, which will continue from July to September, will see the cafe donate a percentage of its monthly pancake sales to the CASA initiative.

Understanding the CASA Mission

CASA is a nonprofit organization that plays a crucial role in supporting children by assigning volunteer court-appointed advocates. Erin Kozma, CASA’s Senior Director of Advancement, outlined that the focus of the mission is to advocate for and safe-guard the interests of youngsters who have suffered abuse or neglect. Volunteers serve as steadfast supporters in the child’s life during turbulent times. Kozma affirmed that, in the previous year, the establishment provided support to an estimated 1,000 children through the efforts of approximately 500 advocates.

Kozma further explained the significance of such a partnership, emphasizing the benefits that come with increased brand visibility. The collaboration can raise awareness about the organization, inspiring those who come across the organisation’s works to participate actively. “Letting the community know that there’s an organization like ours out there, in hopes that maybe someone—who is maybe grabbing pancakes at Kerbey Lane on a Saturday morning—maybe this is the time that they finally see CASA and they say, ‘You know what? I am at a point in my life where I can serve as a CASA volunteer now, and I can advocate for kids.’” she posited.

Engaging with CASA

The requirement for volunteers at CASA is perpetual. Kozma also highlighted numerous methods for individuals to engage in the organization’s undertakings. “Going to your local Kerbey Lane and just ordering a stack of pancakes is a really easy way to help CASA,” she suggested. A major fundraising event for CASA will also be hosted in September, presenting another avenue for public participation.

“Their mission is so powerful… It was a really easy choice to partner with CASA,” Mason Ayer, CEO and owner of Kerbey Lane, enthusiastically acknowledged. Kerbey Lane has a strong dedication towards local nonprofits and vibrantly showcases it through the Kerbey Kindness program, which facilitates these partnerships every quarter.
